From Your First Consultation to Your New Smile
Usually, the implant process includes the following steps:
Consultation
During your consultation, Dr. Osga will thoroughly examine your mouth and take X-rays to assess your oral health. Together, you can discuss various treatment options and develop the right plan for you.
Dental Implant Placement
On the day of surgery, Dr. Osga will numb the treatment site and provide sedation to help you feel relaxed and comfortable. He will then place the titanium implant into your jawbone, where it will replace the lost tooth root.
Osseointegration
Osseointegration is the process during which the implant fuses with the jawbone. This step can take three to six months.
Abutment Placement
Once your implants have fused with the bone tissue, Dr. Osga will place as small connector called an abutment on the dental implant just above the gum tissue. For some cases, this will be placed at the same time as the implant.
New Restoration
Your custom-made dental crown, bridge, or denture will be attached to the abutment.
