Dental Crowns
Damaged teeth can cause discomfort, interfere with chewing or speaking, and make you feel self-conscious about your appearance.
At Osga Dental in Brazoria, TX, Dr. Adam Osga can design and place a dental crown to restore the function and aesthetics of your smile.
So what's so great about crowns?
The Benefits of Dental Crowns
Support & Protect Your Tooth
Dental crowns are one of the most versatile dental solutions. They can be placed over teeth treated for severe damage or decay, protecting them from additional damage, preventing the need for an extraction, and contributing to a balanced, comfortable bite.
A Lasting Solution
Because they are made from high-quality dental porcelain, crowns are remarkably strong. They are made to withstand your biting force, and with proper care, they can last for many years.
Enhance the Look of Your Smile
Today's dental crowns are impressively lifelike. At our Brazoria office, Dr. Adam Osga carefully designs each crown so that it matches the shine, texture, and color of your surrounding teeth, delivering natural-looking results.
Porcelain Crowns Can Function & Feel Great for Many Years
Replacing Missing Teeth with Dental Crowns
Dr. Osga can use crowns to replace missing teeth in two ways. A common solution for one or more missing teeth is a dental bridge. This type of restoration is supported on both sides by crowns to provide support. However, in order to place a bridge, Dr. Osga will first need to alter the teeth on either side of the gap.
For patients who qualify, Dr. Osga can also place a crown supported by a dental implant. Implants act as artificial tooth roots, providing an unrivaled level of stability and oral health benefits. An implant-supported crown can replace the entire structure of a missing tooth for a strong, natural-looking smile. Meanwhile, it can prevent the jaw atrophy that occurs after the loss of a tooth.
Requirements for a Dental Crown
Treatable Tooth
Although crowns can typically restore very damaged teeth much more effectively than fillings, you will need to have a healthy amount of the remaining tooth's structure. Otherwise, an extraction may be recommended.
Otherwise Good Oral Health
Before placing your permanent crown, Dr. Osga will evaluate the rest of your smile to ensure you are in good oral health. If you have additional concerns, we can provide treatment in-office.
Commitment to Dental Care
Although porcelain is very strong, it is not indestructible. To keep your permanent crown looking and feeling great as long as possible, you will need to practice good dental care and visit a dentist every six months for a professional cleaning.
At Osga Dental, Your Comfort Is Our Priority
Dr. Osga will first remove the damaged, decayed, or infected portion of your tooth, so receiving a dental crown often provides immense relief rather than discomfort.
If you have dental anxiety or are receiving multiple crowns, you can also choose to undergo sedation during your dental visits. Our dentist will recommend which option is right for you depending on your level of anxiety and the complexity of your case.
